Bella Coola Rod & Gun Saloompt Range
Bella Coola Rod & Gun Club facilities are for use by Rod & Gun Club members only. Non-members entering the Bella Coola Rod & Gun club range property without specific permission are trespassing and at risk of legal action.



RANGE OPERATION RULES

These range rules are a policy of the Bella Coola Rod & Gun Club.

Users of the facility must sign the range log, in doing so, agrees to abide by the rules posted.

General rules apply to all ranges but are specific to any specific rules, as posted for each specific range, which overriding the provisions of the general rules.

In the case of any dispute, the decision of the Range Safety Officer shall be final.
RANGE SAFETY
-
Raise main flag whenever range is active.

Shooting hours: Daylight hours only unless prior approval from Range Master or Executive.

Firearms shall be discharged on designated ranges only in accordance with posted rules.

When a range is being used and there is no designated Range Safety Officer (RSO) present the first person that arrives at the range is the Acting Range Safety Officer.

All uncased firearms carried to and from the ranges shall be empty of ammunition and be carried with actions open.

Shooters who are finished firing shall ensure the firearm is unloaded and the action open or proved safe and re-holstered before leaving the firing line.

After firing, a firearm shall be placed on the bench or rack with the action open and empty, or proved safe and re-holstered.

No person shall point the muzzle or any firearm toward anyone at anytime.

Anyone who notices an unsafe condition at any time shall call a ceasefire and immediately notify the Range Safety Officer or Acting Range Officer.

Everyone on all ranges must wear ear and eye protection. The Club will not be responsible for any injuries.

All junior members (individuals less than 18 years old) using the Club ranges shall be supervised by an adult.

NO SMOKING while on the firing line.

ALCOHOLIC beverages are prohibited on all ranges at all times. Persons whose behavior exhibits the influence of ALCOHOL or DRUGS will not be permitted on any range.

Approved ammunition only. Only designated firearms may be fired on specific ranges as posted.
RULES OF OPERATION

The Range Safety Officer (RSO) or Acting Range Safety Officer shall enforce these Range Rules.
-
Vehicle parking at designated areas only. No parking shall obstruct the use of roads and gates.
-
No vehicle is permitted on range without the permission of the President or Range Master.
-
Every person shall help keep the property clean by putting garbage and refuse in garbage barrels.
-
All empty brass cases/shotgun hulls shall be picked up and taken home or put in the appropriate barrels provided.
-
Dogs are NOT permitted on the ranges.
-
All shooters shall have a valid Membership Card available for inspection as requested. Exception is made for those shooting in invitational matches. Membership Cards are not transferable.

Shooting at glass objects or other non-approved targets is prohibited.
-
Shooting at bowling pins closer than 25 yards with a rifle and 7 yards with a pistol is prohibited.
-
Shooting at metal objects closer than 50 yards with a rifle, 25 yards with rimfire and 10 yards with a pistol is prohibited.
-
All portable targets shall be removed from the range upon completion of shooting.

Shooters must stand back from the firing line after firing or signal to the Range Officer that a ceasefire can be called to check targets.

Handling of firearms during a ceasefire is prohibited, unless in a designated Safety Area located away from the Firing Line.

Targets shall be placed on target backboards, not on support posts or frames.

Only the Executive shall authorize special activities or events and range closures. When there is a special shooting event at a range, that range is closed for all other shooting activities until the event is over.
WHEN BOTH RANGES ARE IN USE
The Long Range and Short Range may operate simultaneously to 100 yd, and ranges will operate independently with a Range Officer for each range.
If shooting beyond 100 yards, the Long Range, Range Officer will call CEASEFIRE for both ranges. All shooting must stop while targets beyond 100 yards are changed. Only the Long Range RSO may cancel the CEASEFIRE to resume shooting.
